"Passion on Paper: Masterly Prints from the KIA Collection," March 17 - July 17, 2018, Groos Gallery.Label Text"Gag was a prolific printmaker represented by leading New York galleries. She was a legendary illustrator of children’s books and is regarded as a pioneer in the development of the picture book format. Dense, dark inking and vivid animation characterize her style. She focused on portraying innocuous, everyday objects such as the pails, shovels, and other implements of this little landscape but with such vitality and spirit that viewers could almost imagine them being able to move on their own. Her ability to inject a sense of unknown possibilities, to tug at the hearts and minds of her viewers, epitomizes the appeal and passion central to all her imagery (written by Nancy Sojka for Passion on Paper: Masterly Prints from the KIA Collection, 2018)."
