Exhibition HistoryRound and Round, Ethel Denton Groos Gallery, November 4, 2017 - March 4, 2018Label TextSwelling spherical volumes are characteristic of Victor Vasarely’s “Vega” period. These works attempt to elicit the sensation of cosmic pulsation within a vast, expanding galaxy. Vasarely’s precise arrangement of colorful, hard-edged units stimulates the perception of movement and dimension. Vasarely would become regarded as the father of Op Art, a style that employs abstraction and color contrasts to confuse and excite the eye. In some ways, his process anticipated the use of computers to create art.
