Exhibition History"On Paper: The Lincoln Center/ List Art Collection," KIA (June 19 - Aug. 14, 2010).
"Passion on Paper: Masterly Prints from the KIA Collection," March 17 - July 15, 2018, Groos GalleryLabel Text"One might expect perfection to be a driving passion for such an impeccable representation of the ocean surface but Celmins mars the illusion by including a very thin, large X across the entire composition. It jars us back to the reality that this is a two-dimensional interpretation of the real thing created by the intervening presence of the artist.
This screen print is a reproduction of a graphite drawing of the same title in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York. The print was created by the List Art Project of Lincoln Center with proceeds of its sales dedicated to the support of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Screenprint was a good choice of medium for the transcription of the drawing. It replicates the original closely in texture and tone (written by Nancy Sojka for Passion on Paper: Masterly Prints from the KIA Collection, 2018).
