Label TextAntonio Frasconi presents a façade of the famous palace of the Alhambra in Spain. To create this image, the artist carved into a wood block the patterning that suggests the ornate tiling of Moorish architecture in the 13th and 14th centuries. Printed patches of bold color accentuate the decorative aspect of the architecture. Frasconi is recognized for his woodcut illustrations of nearly seventy books.
