Exhibition HistoryRound and Round, Ethel Denton Groos Gallery, November 4, 2017 - March 4, 2018Label TextA simple fruit becomes a dramatic graphic statement with the seed’s dark circle contrasted against light-colored flesh. Without the distraction of color, the high contrast of this black and white image emphasizes the symmetrical form of the cut avocado. Handelsman was an instructor at the KIA from 1967 through the 1980s, exhibited widely in Michigan, and established a commercial studio in Kalamazoo.
