Exhibition History"Passion on Paper: Masterly Prints from the KIA Collection," March 17 - July 15, 2018, Groos Gallery.Label Text"In this impeccably crafted woodcut, Paden hints at the fact that a print can be made without using ink. Notice the 3 x 6 grid in the center of the composition that represents a wall panel. It is an example of inkless embossing created simply from the great weight of the woodblock pressed into the softness of this beautiful paper. Paden was a master of classic Japanese printmaking methods. He lived and studied in Kyoto from 1963 to 1968 where he exhibited and was a member of the Japan Print Association before returning to North America to teach and to work (written by Nancy Sojka for Passion on Paper: Masterly Prints from the KIA Collection)."
