Exhibition History"Passion on Paper: Masterly Prints from the KIA Collection," March 17 - July 15, 2018, Groos Gallery.Label Text"Jimenez used the methods and materials of lithography to great effect to enhance the emotional power of this devastating war scene. Furious mark-making combined with rich, fluid color add to the horror, frenzy, and rage he wished to convey with this image. The female lion is a symbol of ancient Middle Eastern cultures. She is severely wounded, dragging, but not destroyed. Behind her, the structures of ancient civilizations are crumbling from assault (written by Nancy Sojka for Passion on Paper: Masterly Prints from the KIA Collection, 2018)."
