Exhibition History"Moments of Peace: Watercolors by Sunghyun Moon," KIA , Joy Light East Asian Gallery, June 29 - October 13, 2019. "Through the Years" KIA Galleries 2 & 5 (January 29 - April 30, 2021). "Vistas: Visions of China, Japan, and Korea," KIA Joy Light Gallery of Asian Art (Oct. 20, 2021 - Feb. 6, 2022) Label TextIn this dark and moody work, it appears as though the viewer is looking up from the depths of an underwater landscape. Moon dedicates most of his time and efforts at establishing a foundation and balancing the composition of the overall work, yet here he has included forms that resemble tiny fish, bringing some representation into an otherwise completely abstract field. With this small detail, Moon, as he says, is “serenely illustrating” a very small part of the whole, inviting the viewer to contemplate their small place in the cosmos.
