Sydney Higgins is from Grant, Michigan and currently living in Grand Rapids. Where she is currently attending Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University for her Bachelor of Fine Art in Illustration while also pursuing a certificate for Natural Science Illustration. Usually creating with watercolor, gouache, or oil paints she has a special interest in highlighting endangered species as well as common species found in Michigan. During the summer of 2024 Sydney was an artist in residence at Pierce Cedar Creek Institute for five weeks where she got to explore many different environments located in Michigan. Recently Ferris State University chose her Swan oil painting to promote the Illustration program by displaying her painting on a billboard during ArtPrize. Right now, Sydney is working on a children’s book about the Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnake and planning mural work. [West Michigan Area Show, 2026, May 29 - September 27, 2026]
