Round and Round, Ethel Denton Groos Gallery, November 4, 2017 - March 4, 2018Label TextGordon Barlow’s creative impulses fluidly cross conventional boundaries between fine art and pure fun. Revolving Rings permits the owner to alter the appearance of the sculpture by moving parts made of plastic—a commonplace, industrial material. Concentric rings can be turned to present a face of solid silver or black, or alternating colored circles.
Though this artist’s name is not widely recognized, many Americans have owned or touched his work. Barlow is credited as the lead designer of the classic kinetic game, Mousetrap (1963).
