Richard Leach, 1923-2000

Professor Richard Barrie Leach died in his sleep, at the age of 76, on July 10. He earned a B.A. from Central Michigan University, an M.A. from Michigan State College and an M.F.A. from Alfred University in New York. He taught ceramics and sculpture at Albion College in Michigan for 30 years, and retired as professor emeritus in 1983. Known for his expertise on kilns, Leach led workshops on building castable two-chambered catenary arch kilns designed for multiple firing conditions (see Ceramics Monthly, September 1972).
